Children love learning through visual stimulation, but only when it is encompassed in their essential reality.
The geography for child exploration entails all people, places and things, regardless of conditions, circumstances or environments.
In order for a child to explore in the most efficient and effective manner, they must be provided with environments where boundaries are not set. Any environment in society has a cage which suppresses the creativity of a child to express itself naturally. Children need opportunities to explore nature-friendly environments such as:
Forests
Gardens
Beaches
The best time for a field trip is in all 4 seasons in order for the child to gain a universal balance of understanding the elements of nature.
Summer
Spring
Fall
Winter
The Finnish Educational System has the awareness to allow children to experience "Learning Through Play" in nature with the wildlife.
For example, children climb tall trees, walk on ice, pet animals, swim in the ocean, sleep in snow.
These activities may appear to be unsafe for young children aged 4-6, however, if the caregiver, teacher, or chaperone trusts the child, then growth is inevitable and intelligence is gained.
For example in Denmark there is a renowned concept called: Forest Kindergartens, here is a video which showcases the unique pedagogy.
IMAGINE if parents around the world adopted similar concepts which leverage the power of allowing a child to connect with their essential reality by engaging in developing a personal relationship with mother nature, progenies would be more peaceful.
How are you as a parent going to establish the foundation of nature-based learning for your child?
